A flat rack has collapsible or fixed end walls and a heavy floor. A flatbed is a fully flat platform with no walls at all. Flat racks can stack and ship in the same handling systems as standard containers. Flatbeds are usually transported by truck only. Flat racks are more common in ocean shipping.
