What are the different types of containers?

The main types of containers are: dry standard (the most common), High Cube, refrigerated (reefer), open top, flat rack, tank (for liquids), ventilated, insulated, double-door, side-door, and offshore. Sizes range from 8ft to 45ft, with 20ft and 40ft being the global standards. Conversion-ready containers are also a growing market segment.

The large number of container types reflects the diversity of global trade. Standard containers carry most cargo, but specialised designs exist because some goods simply do not fit a standard box.
