Flexible cold storage supporting rapid growth for CitiPost

A distribution and logistics provider – CitiPost secured a two-year contract with a fast-growing quick-commerce operator, dictating an immediate need to expand its temperature-controlled storage capacity.

While the opportunity represented significant commercial growth, it also introduced a key constraint: the contract duration was limited, and future demand remained uncertain. At the same time, the company’s existing facility had no available space for additional cold storage infrastructure.

The challenge was to scale quickly, without committing to permanent construction or long-term leasing agreements.

The challenge

To deliver on the new contract, the distribution and logistics provider needed to rapidly establish temperature-controlled capacity within a constrained environment to supply both refrigerated and frozen drinks and produce.

The situation was shaped by several factors:

  • No available space within the existing facility
  • Limited availability of external cold storage properties
  • Long lease commitments that exceeded the contract duration
  • Uncertainty around the required split between frozen and refrigerated storage
  • Tight timelines to become operational

Without a flexible solution, the company would have faced either delays in fulfilling the contract, exposure to long-term financial commitments that did not align with the two-year agreement or worse, losing a major opportunity.

The solution

To address these constraints, TITAN’s customer implemented a modular Arctic SuperStore solution using available outdoor space at its facility.

The initial configuration included one Arctic SuperStore created from four connected 40ft container bays for frozen storage (-22°C) and another Arctic SuperStore created from five connected 40ft container bays for refrigerated storage (+4°C). The modular setup allowed the business to adapt capacity as operational needs evolved.

The container-based approach provided:

  • Rapid deployment without construction or planning requirements
  • A rental model aligned with the contract duration
  • Flexibility to adjust capacity based on demand
  • The ability to scale without long-term infrastructure commitments

In addition, the solution was supported by SmartArctic remote monitoring, providing real-time visibility into temperature conditions and operational status. This enabled our customer to maintain control over storage environments while adapting to changing requirements throughout the contract period.

The result

With the Arctic SuperStore solution in place, our customer was able to meet the requirements of the two-year contract and operate with full temperature-controlled capacity.

The flexible setup allowed the company to adapt to changing demand throughout the contract period, while maintaining operational efficiency and control.

Following the successful delivery of the initial contract, the customer is now in the process of not just renewing the agreement but further expanding their cold storage footprint. As part of this next phase, the existing Arctic SuperStore configuration will be retained, with additional capacity being added to support continued growth.

Flexible infrastructure for contract-driven logistics

Short-term contracts and evolving demand patterns are increasingly shaping logistics operations.

This case demonstrates how modular cold storage infrastructure can support rapid scaling without long-term commitment — enabling logistics providers to respond to commercial opportunities while managing risk and maintaining flexibility.
